Filante SLR is an extremely light aerodynamic road bike that significantly improves the torsional stiffness-to-weight ratio. We used the same materials and technology that we used to create the Wilier 0 SLR.
The result is a high performance aerodynamic frame to complement our uphill only bike currently used by the Astana Qazaqstan Team
DESCRIPTION
AERODYNAMICS
The Filante SLR was developed to achieve maximum aerodynamics under real environmental conditions. The analysis is based on data measured in the wind tunnel (where the wind is very clean for homogeneous empirical results), also taking the real world into account. In this way, we not only evaluate the data typical of the wind tunnel (yaw angles from -20 ° to +20 °), but also take into account the turbulence in the real world that affects the bike for various reasons.
For this reason we have redesigned the profiles. We started from the NACA/KAMM standard, but avoided blunt cuts on the rear end. Rounded edges provide better performance even when airflow is disrupted.
The inside of the fork has been increased by 7mm, making it 13.6% wider than the Cento10PRO's fork. We removed the fork legs from the bike to reduce turbulence and improve aerodynamics.ULTRA-LIGHT AND REACTIVE Thanks to the new aerodynamically optimized profiles, we were able to save additional weight in the frame construction. The shape with no blunt cuts uses less material and less resin in the corners. As a result, the interior is more homogeneous and the frame weighs 870 grams.
With the specifications of the top model, the wheel weighs 6.8 kg.
The carbon used to construct the Filante monocoque is the same as that used in the Wilier 0 SLR. Thanks to the different types of carbon used together with liquid crystal polymer, the particular positioning of the fibers and the construction technology, we have managed to achieve top results in terms of lightness and rigidity.
The lower overall weight has increased the STW factor by 12.5% compared to the highest level of torsional stiffness. This improvement can be clearly felt in the steering precision and the sense of security at high speeds.FURNISHING
